There are seven cemeteries located in the Town of Nunda. As a joint project of the Town Historian and the Nunda Historical Society, we are working to put all seven online by the Bicentennial Year (2008)
Here is the Chautauqua Hollow Cemetery. The material comes from several sources, but is based primarily on the work done by Sally Hall who was Town Historian of Nunda at the time. In the summer of 1995 she visited the cemetery, photographing and transcribing the stones. She then add material from other sources, including information from Marjorie Conrad Frost (Nunda Town Historian) and Richard Haberlin. She submitted the results to the WNY Municipal Historians Association for a cemetery documentation project.
If researchers have questions, corrections, or additional data to add, please contact Tom Cook.
" Located on Old Chautauqua Hollow Road, opposite gravel pits on Route 70. Take first right after gravel pits, cross railroad tracks, turn right, go nerly to end of dirt road...burial ground is on the right in small grove of trees....Most of stones are broken, propped against trees or bottom part of stone."
