This postcard view is taken from State street looking southeast into the Square. The structure in the foreground is a band stand, built before 1900. The band stand was the center of the Saturday evening entertainment, when local residents flocked to the square to hear band concerts. The card is postmarked Aug 18th 1923, but the image shows a turn of the century view. It was sent from Mrs. E.B.C of Nunda to Miss Olive Arnett of Wolcott NY. |
